Vitamin B6 Test

Description
This test is used to determine Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) deficiencies. Vitamin B6 is involved in the process of making serotonin and norepinephrine, chemicals that transmit signals in the brain. It is also involved in the formation of myelin, a fatty protein layer that forms around nerve cells. Mild vitamin B6 deficiencies are common, but more serious deficiencies can cause health problems in adults that affect the skin, mucous membranes, nerves and circulatory system. In children, the central nervous system (CNS) can be affected.
